Skiing at Meadows January 15, 2006

Sunday was yet another crappy day of skiing to go down in the history books. It started off so cold that the first signs of snow on the windshield were just after Shorty's Corner. Due to snow and traffic causing our late arrival there were already huge lift lines by 8:30, I was at least 8 people back in the singles line and after and endless wait wound up on the 6th chair of the day. With such a crowd of people already on the mountain by the time I got to the top of the chair I actually had to cross one other track on my first run through the bowls. The singles lines were long all day, wait times were ranging from 2 to 6 minutes all morning. Because of the cold temps the snow was super light and deep and blowing everywhere when you turned to the point where it was hard to see at times. On my third run through the bowls the snow even billowed up into my face on two consecutive turns, sometimes I wonder why I ever go through the tortures of skiing.
